A quick Interview with the beautiful C.C. Hunter!!

C.C. Hunter has one of the best series I have read! Shadow Falls tells a story about Kylie Galen and her struggles in finding out what she is. Of course there are two hot boys that are fighting for her, Derek Lakes and Lucas Parker.

Check out the books. Born At Midnight, Awake at Dawn, Taken at Dusk and coming soon Whispers at Moonrise,

Now here is the interview!

What has been some things you have learned about writing The Shadow Falls series?

C.C.: Oh, this is a great question, Khelsey! As a writer, I learn new things every time I write. Now, I expect that to happen when I'm writing non-fiction, but it also happens when I write fiction—maybe it's a fact I learn while doing research or an insight I gain when I write a particularly emotion-filled scene. Honestly, that's one of the great things about being a writer—being able to learn all these new things. So what I have learned from writing the Shadow Falls series? Well, lots of things, but one of the biggest is that diversity is really cool. I've gotten so much reader email from people who say that they've always felt different and didn't think they fit in with the other kids in their school, and that reading my books helped them cope. They said they could totally relate to my characters, and I was deeply touched by that. Of course, all of the residents of Shadow Falls Camp/Academy are different: First, they're different species, such as vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter, fae and witch. (And in Kylie's case . . . something quite different.) But even among the same species, there are differences. Each paranormal gets assigned special gifts, which are unique to them.

One of the lessons that the teens learn at Shadow Falls is that being different is okay. Being different is cool. And while I've always known that, the fact was really driven home for me when I started getting all of the readers' responses to the books.

Do you snack when you're writing? And if yes what?

C.C.: I really don't do a lot of snacking when I write. Mostly out of self-preservation. I love junk food just as much as the next person. Maybe even more. But I have to be careful because writing is such a sedentary occupation. I mean, we sit at our desks and write for hours on end, which doesn't result in a good cardio workout. (Okay, some scenes I write do get my heart racing, but I don't think that's what the Surgeon General had in mind. LOL.) Now, I do walk every morning before I dive into my work, and when I get home, I'm covered in sweat. Of course, I live in Texas and it's easy to work up a sweat here just by walking to your car, but I try to turn my walks into good workout sessions. But I do love snack food and I'll usually eat a few of the Special K chips with my lunch to satisfy my craving for snack food. My favorite is the Southwest Ranch. But it’s my cat’s favorite, too. So I have to be on guard the whole time.

What scene stands out the most to you?

C.C.: Honestly, each book has a special scene in it—one that surprised me with new insight into my characters or one that brought me to tears. It becomes an unforgettable scene. I think some of my favorite scenes in the whole series are those where Kylie and Miranda and Della sit around the table drinking diet cokes and laughing. And there are a lot of those scenes in Whispers at Moonrise that are very funny. Another “insightful” scene in Whispers at Moonrise—well, actually, there were several scenes in the book that knocked me for an emotional loop, but the one that hit me the hardest happens near the end. I won't spoil it for your readers, but Kylie has to save the life of someone very close to her, and she's willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to succeed. Just thinking about that scene makes me tear up.

In Taken at Dusk one of my favorite scenes was Derek telling Kylie he loved her. Man, I could just feel Kylie’s heart ache right then.
