Interview and Giveaway with Cynthia Eden

Please tell the viewers a little bit about yourself.
Hi, Khelsey! Thanks so much for interviewing me. Hmmm…a little about myself? I’m a southern girl, born and raised along the Gulf Coast. I love horror movies, chocolate, and romance novels. I generally spend my days writing about vampires, demons, or serial killers. You know—fun things.

What is a typical writing day like for you?
Each day, I try to write 4000 words. So I usually get to work first thing in the morning and write until I have 2000 words written. Once I reach that mid-way point, I allow myself an hour long break to check email and work on PR. This break helps my mind to recover. ;) After that hour, I head back in and I keep writing until I get my 4000 words written. If my son gets out of school before I reach my word count (because some days I have to force those words out), then I will find myself sitting at the computer again late at night.
What made you want to be an author?
I’ve always enjoyed making up stories. When I was a kid, I used to rewrite the endings of fairy tales. I liked to put my own twist on things. As I grew up, I never stopped creating stories. Writing for me was just natural—the one thing that I’d always wanted to do in life.
Out of all of your books, what scene stands out to you the most?
That is such a hard question! But I think the one that stands out to me the most occurred in IMMORTAL DANGER. That book opened with my heroine, Maya, dying and then being reborn as a vampire. She fought so fiercely to live, but in an instant, her whole world changed. That scene has always reminded me that life doesn’t have any guarantees. Anything can happen (except maybe being turned into a vampire—that’s not as likely to happen…)

Can you tell us a little bit about your new series?
Thank you so much for asking. I’ve got a Bound e-book only series that I have been releasing (BOUND BY BLOOD, BOUND IN DARKNESS, and BOUND IN SIN). In each of these books, focus on the relationship between a werewolf hero and a vampire heroine. What can I say? Opposites can definitely attract! These stories are priced at .99 each, and I’ve received a great reader response to them. (So great that I plan to release a fourth book in this series soon.)
I’ve also recently released the first book in my new Fallen series with Kensington Brava—ANGEL OF DARKNESS introduced my world of very dangerous and very sexy fallen angels.
How do you come up with your ideas?
Ideas can come from any place! Sometimes a song will inspire me. Or a picture. Or a dream. Whenever an idea hits me, I write it down as quickly as I can. When I wrote my Night Watch series, the whole series idea actually came to me in the form of a book title. I woke up one day and just said, “I’ll Be Slaying You.” From that one title, I developed all of the Night Watch books.
What are you currently working on?
Right now, I am working on copy-edits for my next Fallen book, ANGEL BETRAYED (this one is about a VERY bad-boy hero—the bad ones can be so good). I’m also working on a new series for Kensington Brava. The book I am currently writing has the tentative title of BURN FOR ME. It’s about a Phenix—each time my hero dies, he burns and rises again. Only with each death, he comes back a bit…darker.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
I have so many! Jayne Ann Krentz. Linda Howard. Larissa Ione. Julie Garwood. Christine Feehan. Angela Knight. (I could go on and on…)
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Yes—thank you for interviewing me! I had a great time answering your questions! Thanks to everyone for checking out the interview!

  18. Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors. I've read all her books to date and after each swear I'm in love with her latest hero!! So as of right now its Keenan from angel of darkness, even though in this book I was attracted to the villain too Azural sorry I most likely butchered his name I can't spell, But yes It was very strange to fall for a villain.... :/! Thanks for the chance to win and good luck Cynthia in your upcoming books can't wait for them!!!

    1. Savannah, there's no shame in falling for a villain--I do that all the time. (It started with Spike and just kept going when I fell for Vin Diesel's character in Pitch Black.)

And I wanted to say---Az's story is all written and sitting with my editor. ANGEL IN CHAINS will be out in November.

    2. OMG!!! You just made my day I had no clue he was getting his own book :)!!

    3. And Az will appear a whole lot in Sam's story (Angel Betrayed) that will be out in July. That's a turning point book for Az's character. ;)

  24. I really enjoyed the interview. I LOVE Cynthia! I have read all of the Bound books, several others (including anthologoies), and definitely Angel of Darkness. The rest are on my TBR. I can't wait for Sammael's story. He was intriguing in Angel of Darkness. The new story about the Phenix sounds like it will be very edgy and fascinating. I really felt for Keenan and Nicole. They both have so much to learn about their worlds. I loved the book!

Cynthia, how many books will there be in your Angel series? Thank you.
